Sports Star of the Year Award
This award officially recognises the sporting achievements of upcoming talent and outstanding contribution to sport in Ryde’s local community.
Every month one or two local sportspeople are presented with the Sports Star of the Month Award. These presentations occur at one of the clubs comprising the Ryde Sports Foundation on a Friday 6:00–7:00 pm.
At the Annual Awards Gala Dinner on first Friday of May at the Ryde Eastwood Leagues Club, one or two of these monthly Sports Stars are awarded Sports Star of the Year!
The Ryde Sports Foundation uses the following judging criteria:
- Achievement of the participant at various levels of their sport. This should be beyond club level.
- The contribution that the individual may make to life within the sporting section.
- The ability of the sportsperson to develop as a role model for other people.
- Be aged 12 years or older, as this is the age at which children are given the opportunity to develop in their sport outside
participation at club level.
