Star Panthers trio in Australian hockey squads

“Ryde hockey internationals and Ryde Sports Foundation Sports Star of 2014–15, Tom Craig (pictured above) and Ryde Sports Foundation Sports Star of 2015-16, Tim Brand have gained selection in the Australian Kookaburras squad for the upcoming Darwin International Hockey Open.

The world number one Kookaburras will compete against Argentina, Malaysia and Japan in the DIHO from September 18–22 at Marrara Hockey Centre as well as two tests against Argentina on September 14 and 16.

Ryde’s emerging Hockeyroo Mikaela Patterson will also represent Australia in next week’s Four Nations tournament in Japan.

Meanwhile Ryde Hockey Club are celebrating Grand Final victories in the Sydney Hockey League’s fifth, seventh and eighth grade competitions.

The Panthers blitzed UTS 4-1 in the fifth grade decider with goals from Damien Cork, Owen Crotty, Mark Greaves and Trevor Sanderson.

Ryde downed Briars 3-0 in seventh grade and edged out Sutherland 3-2 in 8th grade with goals by Simon Tan, Mark Richard and Liam Hitchcock.”
