Rob spent his first 22 years in Hobart, Tasmania, apart from 12 months in the USA as an exchange student.
He moved to Sydney in 1975 to take up a job with AFS (American Field Service) International Student Exchanges and remained there until 1992, having had international responsibility for travel, finances and administration. He subsequently established his own (travel) business, which still continues to operate successfully—from a home office, with, primarily, corporate clients.
Rob has lived in the Sydney suburb of East Ryde for 38 years. He has been involved with many volunteer organisations including various school P&Cs; North Ryde Community Aid; Rotary; Chambers of Commerce; Ryde Sports Foundation; and his (late) father’s RAAF 458 Squadron.
Rob is a firm believer in volunteer activity to assist others. In 2008 he was named Volunteer of the Year for his local City of Ryde.
He joined the Rotary Club of North Ryde in 1993 and is still an active member, having been President on three occasions and awarded a Paul Harris Fellowship in 2003.
ROMAC (Rotary Oceania Medical Aid for Children) is a project of all Rotary Districts in Australia and New Zealand.
